What does the multi-level download tool do?

In this session you can specify a solution and start the download. It will then download and scan this solution and all its dependencies. This session will allow customers to install PMC patches more easily and quickly.

Procedure to install the solution:

This will create a file called “ftpbaan” on the server in directory: $BSE/lib (on NT & UNIX).

You will notice that a new menu item for Download, Scan and Connect Solution (Multi-Level) (ttpmc2210s000 for BaanERP, ttpmc2210m000 for Baan Ivc4) under the PMC menu has been added.

Using the session “Download, Scan and Connect Solution (Multi-Level)”

Start session “Download, Scan and Connect Solution (Multi-Level)” (Picture 4).

(ttpmc2210m000) for B40_cx / (ttpmc2210s000) for B50_x.

Select the Update VRC in which you want to install the solution. Select the Solution Code of the solution you want to download. The solution code is the number of the solution without the extension. If the checkbox is checked an extended report will be printed.

Click Continue.

First a check is done if the solution is already available in another Update VRC, if so the solution will be connected to the selected Update VRC. If the solution is not available in any and all Update VRCs, the download process is started. First the solution dump will be downloaded directly to your server. If your server does not have direct Internet access, an ftp session is started on your client to download the solution dump to your client (Picture 5). Once downloaded it is uploaded to your server.

Picture 5

After downloading the solution dump, it will be scanned and if the solution has pre-requisites that are not available in any Update VRC, they will be downloaded and scanned as well.

When the complete process of downloading and scanning the solution and all pre-requisites is finished, the report will be printed.

NOTES:

1. It is not possible to install the Weekly Collection Dumps with this session. These dumps must be installed to PMC using the original methods. Installing via the Multi-Level Download Tools is not supported.

2. If the session stops downloading and installing for whatever reason (i.e. the Internet connection fails) then simply restart the session, enter the solution number and it will start downloading where it left off.

Normal / Extended Report

The default setting will print a normal report. This report contains only the error messages that occur when the download process fails. For example, when you try to download a solution that does not exist you receive the following message (Picture 6).

Picture 6

The Extended report contains all actions taken during the whole download, scanning and connecting process (Picture 7).
